চট্টগ্রাম নগরীর চান্দগাঁও থানার অদূরে চান্দগাঁও আবাসিক এলাকায় বাসা ভাড়া নিয়ে রমরমা ইয়াবা ব্যবসা করছিলেন এক রোহিঙ্গা দম্পত্তি। তাদেরকে নগদ এক কোটি ১৭ লাখ এক হাজার ৫০০ টাকা ও পাঁচ হাজার ৩০০ পিস ইয়াবাসহ আটক করেছে র্যাপিড অ্যাকশন ব্যাটালিয়ন (র্যাব)।
সোমবার (৯ নভেম্বর) সকালে বিষয়টি সংবাদ সারাবেলাকে নিশ্চিত করেন র্যাবের কোম্পানী কমান্ডার (সিপিসি-৩, চান্দগাঁও, চট্টগ্রাম) ফ্লাইট ল্যাফটেন্যান্ট আলী আশরাফ তুষার। তিনি বলেন, রোহিঙ্গা দম্পত্তি চান্দগাঁও আবাসিকের বি ব্লকের ৪ নম্বর সড়কের ৭৯ নম্বর বাড়ির একটি ফ্ল্যাট ভাড়া নিয়ে ইয়াবার কারবার করছিলেন। আমরা গোয়েন্দা তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে অভিযান পরিচালনা করলে তারা জানালা দিয়ে টাকা বাহিরে ফেলে দেন। অভিযানে মো. শওকত ইসলাম (৩২) ও তার স্ত্রী মোরজিনা বেগমকে (২৮) আটক করা হয়েছে।
তিনি আরো জানান, এই দম্পত্তি ২০০৮ সালে বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করেছে। তারা দীর্ঘদিন ইয়াবা ব্যবসায় জড়িত। মিয়ানমার থেকে ইয়াবা এনে সারা দেশেই ছড়িয়ে দিতেন। তাদের কাছ থেকে থেকে উদ্ধার করা নগদ এক কোটি ১৭ লাখ এক হাজার ৫০০ টাকা ইয়াবা বিক্রি থেকে অর্জিত বলে তারা জিজ্ঞাসাবাদে স্বীকার করেন।
অভিযানে পাঁচ হাজার ৩০০ পিস ইয়াবা উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে জানিয়ে ফ্লাইট ল্যাফটেন্যান্ট আলী আশরাফ তুষার জানান, তাদের দুইজনের বিরুদ্ধে মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইন ও বাংলাদেশে অবৈধ অনুপ্রবেশের দায়ে চান্দগাঁও থানায় মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে।
